CarePath Hackathons

The vision of CarePath is achieving improved medication adherence and persistence through a transformed chronic disease care ecosystem, ensuring every patient has personalised support, resulting in better health outcomes and enhanced quality of life, while also reducing healthcare cost.

Up to 50% of patients with a chronic condition, like obesity, Cardiovascular disease or Diabetes Type II, stop taking their medicine for different reasons. This can lead to severe complications of worsening of the condition. CarePath is determined to improve the medication adherence and persistence by involving patients, their caregivers and patient organisations, in finding solutions that will work for them, in their own context.

One of the ways we will use to reach our goal, is inviting patients, their caregivers and patient organizations to join other stakeholders in discussing solutions and care paths in a one-day Hackathon.

What is a Hackathon?

A hackathon is an intensive, time-bound collaborative event where diverse participants come together to rapidly develop innovative solutions, prototypes, or approaches to specific challenges. Typically lasting anywhere from several hours to a full weekend, participants form multidisciplinary teams and work intensively to transform ideas into tangible concepts, action plans, or working models.

In a healthcare context, these events bring together healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, administrators, and sometimes designers or technologists to tackle real-world problems in patient care, healthcare delivery, or health system improvement. The events usually conclude with teams presenting their solutions to a panel who evaluate the ideas based on criteria like feasibility, impact, and innovation.

Why is a Hackathon a good idea?

Beyond generating solutions, hackathons create valuable opportunities for breaking down traditional silos between patients, Health Care professionals and industry, fostering empathy through shared problem-solving, and building momentum around issues that matter most to those directly affected by healthcare challenges: the patients and their caregivers themselves.

A good hackathon will deliver new insights, ideas, solutions and contacts.
